What was the food highlight of your year?
I got married last year, and our honeymoon was one big food highlight. We were in Carmel and Big Sur, stayed at Post Ranch, where we did the tasting menu at Sierra Mar, had awesome pizza at Big Sur Bakery, and drank lots of wine. The best meal of the trip was on the last night, we were in Carmel and had dinner at Luca, an Italian spot. All of the pasta was scratch, cured meats were insane, sauces on point, and everything looked and tasted super clean.
What was the music highlight of your year?
I was at a GBV tribute show in Columbus, and there was a band called Brat Curse playing, joined by Micky, the guitar player from The Nervosas, who looks like Joan Jett, but plays like Johnny Ramone. They blew my head off.
Was there a moment when food and music came together in a memorable way?
There is a bar down the street from me called Ace of Cups, owned by Marcy, from the band Scrawl. Behind the bar is Ray Ray's Hog Pit, a truck that just pumps out legit BBQ. Ace always has awesome shows, and Ray Ray always has awesome brisket.
