What was the food highlight of your year?
My wedding, which took place in Pascagoula, Mississippi, about 1.5 hours outside of New Orleans, right on the Gulf Coast: oysters, muffulettas, gumbo, corn bread, shrimp po’ boys, cold Abita beer, and moonshine. It was a an amazing spread full of southern charm, in the company of friends, family, and my beautiful bride to be.
What was the music highlight of your year?
Tomahawk at the Great American Music Hall, February 15th. One of my favorite venues and favorite bands. Such an all-star line up. It’s motivating to see these guys up close in a small venue just killing it.
Was there a moment when food and music came together in a memorable way?
I really feel there is symbiotic relationship between cooking and rocking out. We play music in the kitchen - all types. We try to be fair and make sure everyone gets airtime (although I have the final say and there are a few forbidden bands). However, there is always a common ground somewhere and I love to hear my my staff discussing playlists, new albums, and old favorites. It’s a highlight for me because it’s the environment I have always wanted to work in: a place full of great people passionate about cooking and music. Nice to see it become a reality.
